The Shoe Just Don't Fit

How many times have you tried to make something work that just wouldn't work? You've tried over and over and over again. You've had more tolerance than enough. Yet, your efforts were not good enough. It just isn't working. No matter how much you bend over backwards, break your neck and even do a couple of therapy sessions, the shoe just don't fit!

There are moments where you have to laugh to prevent crying, you have to pray to prevent killing and you have to keep it moving to keep your sanity.

All relationships are not meant to last. I'm talking about parent/child; husband/wife; bf/gf; friend/friend all relationships.

Once you've done the best you can possibly do and things still aren't working out, learn to let go and let God have His way. It's a painful feeling trying to wear a size 6 shoe when you really wear a size 9.

So Education is Key Huh?

I can agree with that. I grew up in one of the roughest neighborhoods in SE. I barely made it out of high school (due to emotional barriers). I was always an honor roll student. In third grade, I came in third place in the Nation Wide Spelling Bee and by 5th grade was offered an opportunity with the Higher Achievement Program. I received awards and certificates in all subjects except math and science. My mom enrolled us in Catholic school and I graduated in 8th grade with honors.

But in 10th grade, my report card was horrific! I had c's and d's and one f. EW! Thankfully, by 11th grade things changed and graduating was successful the following year.Someone told me when I was very young to stay in school. I took that literally. As I struggled with college from ages 18-24 (really wasn't ready. Moved into my own apartment by 18 and took on lots of responsibilty. This caused me to work in many unfulfilling positions just to earn a paycheck).

After getting laid off for the third time, I decided to go back to school and get a degree (seriously this time!) and earned a B.S. in Business Management (with honors). I did this in 2 years (I didn't take a break...even during the summer, I went to school). It took an additional 2 years to earn a Master's in Business. I've also received several certificates in Business Development and was recently trained & certified as a community educator teaching about cardiovascular (heart) disease.

After my 4th layoff, I decided I would NEVER work for anyone else again! Instead, I would start a nonprofit that educate and prepare youth leaders to be entrepreneurs and business owners. I also inspire to be a writer, art & culture instructor, business coach, motivational speaker and fashion consultant. I may even go BACK to school to study Epidemiology and earn a Ph.D. My name will change to Dr. Little and my life will change from rags to riches.

These are all things I have a passionate interest in/for and I'm following my dreams THIS TIME until they come true! Do you dream? If so, are you following your dreams? It starts with a decent education. Food for thought: education also enhances your self-esteem too!

If you're inspiring to return to school to enhance your education, GO FOR IT! It'll be over sooner than you think and you'll be a changed person for life!

"The Economy is Hurting Us All"

It's no surprise that the economy has taken a downward spiral and many are struggling financially as well as emotionally. The unemployment rate is steady rising. People are losing their homes, cars and livelihood. And as a result, morals and values are going out the window. I've heard so many unbelievable stories and decided to share some with you.

1. Seniors are prostituting. First of all, how? Are they walking up and down the street soliciting their bodies? What are they wearing? Clothing that reveals their cleavage and boobies? I mean, really...and who has the nerve to buy sex from a senior citizen? This was the most shocking story I heard!

2. A guy was pulled over by a group of policemen. They searched him and found a bag of weed (marijuana). They stepped away from the guy, formed a huddle then came back and asked "Is this all you have? Where is the rest of it?" The guy replied, "That's all I have. The economy is hurting us all." The police kept the bag and let him go. What did they do with the weed?

3. On the news we see ATMs being robbed at gas stations, grocery stores, wherever...ordinary people are also getting their pockets patted by robbers with guns. It was reported that a neighborhood in DC consisted of young males who would walk up to residents as they exit their cars to enter their homes and rob them...in broad daylight, with no masks.
This is bad but not as disturbing as it is to hear about adults stealing government funding from children & youth and robbing them of their development and growth.

Times are extremely hard and is causing people to react recklessly.

But it doesn't have to be so bad. Yes, even with a tumbling economy, there is still peace on this earth. Bishop Long said if you say something seven times, it becomes a part of you...it becomes a part of your soul.

So being the believer that I am, I cried to the Lord seven times saying "This too shall pass! This too shall pass! This too shall pass! This too shall pass! This too shall pass! This too shall pass! This too shall pass!" And sure enough, that mountain (problem) that I was facing, passed.

Believe in something or fall for anything. I choose Jesus Christ...I may have failed several times, but I've never been failed yet! These economic hardships too shall pass!

Baby Mother

As a spiritual and God fearing woman, I envisioned a perfect life: husband who cooks & clean (my auntie has one of them! how fortunate!); a job that I love doing and getting paid for it; a beautiful home with a big back yard for a pony and bbqs; traveling and shopping at my leisure... but I ended up unmarried; an unfulfilling job...and a single parent at age 31...my life was a mess! I dreaded being someone's "Baby Mother." I wanted more for my child and myself. When my daughter's dad and I seperated, it was devistating. I cried out to my heavenly sent earth angel: "I don't want to be a baby mother..." This is what she said:

BABY MOTHER
Think not to the man that had half to do with the plan, but think the man who created it. Be proud that you’re a mother to your baby for she is proud that you’re her mother. Cherish the moments you spend together, and pray that the bond you two share will grow further and last forever! For months you’ve carried her, think of the joy and the love you had; not even seeing her. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, hold your baby nourish her, console her. Let her know that INDEPENDENCE is a virtue, and to never let no man, nor woman break her stance; Stand for something or fall for anything and God will see ya’ll through everything!
Being a mother to your baby is something remarkable think not of the world and know that she is just that! Spend less time away from the thing that does not reach the level of your precious seed, and spend more time working on ya’ll future needs; for your future is why you live and God bless your future with your kid, take that blessing and help it grow and know that you will receive your crown at heavens front door.
Dominique you are so sweet, but your sweetness could lead to bitter. I love your strength, but too much power could make you weak and then life doesn’t seem so easy.Sami was a blessing sent from no other; he makes no mistakes so thank God that you’re a blessings mother!

Thank you so much angel...I love you dearly...keep spreading them wings...

To all the "Baby Mothers": babies are God's way of sending pure love.

Father of the Fatherless

...What? But I don't mentor to boys...I don't know what they go through...okay, I'll do it. Lord, what am I going to do? I don't even understand the male species so how am I going to mentor to them?

And then it hit me! The Watchtower's article "The Father of the Fatherless." This article changed my life forever and I knew it would change the lives of those who read it. A group of 20 males between ages 14-16 discovered that God is so merciful to children who grow/grew up with 1 of 2 parents or o of 2 parents that He said He would destroy ANYONE who comes up against them.

The world just lost a beautiful soul who lived her life to the fullest: she became a bartender, photographer, painter & designer, retail manager...all within her 31 sweet years on this earth.

As her family recalls, she had one major sad memory that happiness could not replace: her absent parents.

We don't know the cause of her suicide but if you can relate to the emotional pain of growing up without your parents (no matter what the reason is), please know that the Creator of this Universe is very compassionate of your pain. He has taken you under His wings and has prepared a better future for you...just pray & believe!

Dear God:
Please hear the cries of your children who are without a mother, father or both. Please send your Angels to protect, comfort and love them. Heal them emotionally and spiritually while bringing them closer to You...that can do ALL things. Give them strength to forgive their parents, if case may be, and teach them how to walk in the paths of righteousness. In Jesus' Name I pray. Amen

Psalm 146:9 (King James Version)
The LORD preserveth the strangers;
he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.

Black People are Worth Billions!!!

In a time where everything is going bankrupt, including the economy, it's interesting to discover that the African American nation is worth a $910 BILLION industry! YEP! That's right...black folks we have positive authority & power according to a motivational speaker who studies African Americans. One shouldn't be surprised though because it's a known fact that this community has the highest spending power. And you know African American ancestors built many historical buildings and landmarks...thus, leaving an inheritance! And not to mention God's inheritance for His children-those who believe (which definitely includes African Americans).

So why is this group of people claiming "broke?" The answer is simple: there's no unity and so the brokeness that they are claiming deals with the heart and soul...money is the least of problems but gains the most respect and is considered the most valuable.

Folks, let's get it together...look at the Koreans, Jews, Slaves, Muslims, Entertainers, etc. These different groups have something in common: Togetherness and their works show! The conquer and divide days amongst this wealthy nation of people should be done and over with; a change in action and thoughts is definitely necessary...especially if you wanna claim that nice piece of inheritance!

God has given hope to the African American community...He gave us leadership change.

Step up your change game to make a real difference!
